Van Dieman's Natura Dualis professional ink collection is inspired by the natural world, where contrasts coexist harmoniously. The inks are designed to illustrate moments of duality in nature: night meets day, earth meets sky, water meets land, movement meets stillness. Each color in the Natura Dualis series is formulated for a dual- or multi-color effect. The inks are formulated to create defined edges, undertones, subtle highlights, and even color separations—revealing hidden depths after drying, depending on the nib, paper, and ink flow. The result is writing that feels alive and ink that tells more than one story.
Overcast represents the subdued majesty of a sky blanketed in cloud. This ink perfectly reflects the collection’s dual nature. On most papers, it settles into a misty lavender-grey base, with shifting overlays of teal and rose, sometimes separating into dusty halos or marbled pools of colour. In broad nibs or wet applications, blue/green rivers emerge.
Van Dieman's inks are created on the Australian island of Tasmania. Handcrafted in small batches with a minimum of 95% Australian ingredients, Van Dieman's Ink takes a unique approach to both the inks and their users.
