Van Dieman's Natura Dualis professional ink collection is inspired by the natural world, where contrasts coexist harmoniously. The inks are designed to illustrate moments of duality in nature: night meets day, earth meets sky, water meets land, movement meets stillness. Each color in the Natura Dualis series is formulated for a dual- or multi-color effect. The inks are formulated to create defined edges, undertones, subtle highlights, and even color separations—revealing hidden depths after drying, depending on the nib, paper, and ink flow. The result is writing that feels alive and ink that tells more than one story.
Nightfall captures that shift in the sky, when the last warmth of day recedes and the night begins its slow approach. The colour begins as a dusky violet, but shades outward into stormy indigo, lavender, and a subtle cool blue fringe. On paper, it pools richly in broad strokes, showing strong edge shading and layered tone, while in finer lines it leans toward a faded twilight lilac.
Van Dieman's inks are created on the Australian island of Tasmania. Handcrafted in small batches with a minimum of 95% Australian ingredients, Van Dieman's Ink takes a unique approach to both the inks and their users.
