Description
Van Dieman's inks pay tribute to the Australian island of Tasmania, where they are produced. The inks are handmade in small batches using a minimum of 95% Australian ingredients. Each series is inspired by Tasmanian fauna, flora, history or extraordinary landscapes.
Tasmania is home to some of the deepest and longest cave systems in the world - Hastings Caves. When brightly lit, this huge complex of dolomite caves at the southern most tip of Tasmania shines a golden brown and glistens with its countless delicate stalactites. Hastings is also home to a natural hot spring that warms the nearby rivers year-round to 28°C.
This ink shades from faintest yellow to dark amber, with greenish edging sheens and light silver shimmer.
Shimmering ink is suitable for dip pens, brushwork, and all fountain pens that can be easily disassembled for cleaning. For the best experience, pair it with a medium or broad nib that can truly bring out its shimmer and depth of color. As this is a high saturation ink with particulate matter, we recommend gently turning the bottle to distribute the particles before use, as shaking can incorporate air bubbles that may clog the pen feed. Regular maintenance, including frequent flushing, is recommended when using this ink.
This ink inspired by Hanging Lake is a dark blue-black ink with a strong mahogany sheen, and is an excellent everyday writing.
