Description
Ukiyo-e translates as "pictures of the floating world" and relates to paintings and illustrations reflecting day to day life in Japan. Ukiyo-e inks refer to this tradition and in successive series reflect colors used by masters of this genre in their masterpieces.
Hokusai Katsushika was one of the greatest masters of colorful woodcuts from the Edo period. Taccia Hokusai ink series honors him by referring to his work from “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” series. Taccia Hokusai ink series includes 4 different colors.
Sabimidori color is a dull green color from “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji - Barrier Town on the Sumida River”
Ukiyo-e inks were designed and manufactured in Japan from the carefully selected ingredients. Each color was verified for the conformity with the original woodcut. On each packing you can find the reproduction of the work that was the inspiration for the shade of the ink. If you put all the boxes from one series side by side, you will see the name of the artist to which the series is dedicated to.
