Tom's Studio One-Dip-Nib & Flourish Pen Holder - Brass

Tom's Studio One-Dip-Nib is an incredibly versatile nib designed for illustrators and calligraphers. It comes with a black Flourish Tom's Studio straight pen holder.

What makes the One-Dip-Nib unique? A thumb screw allows you to adjust the nib width, allowing you to achieve a wide range of line widths. Simply twist the thumb screw for a wider or thinner line. Even more juicy strokes can be achieved by adjusting the angle of the nib to the paper. Experimenting with the One-Dip-Nib to create diverse handwriting styles and innovative techniques is completely addictive! This nib is perfect for expressive calligraphy and illustration.

Why is the nib called the One-Dip-Nib? Because it holds a huge amount of ink, allowing you to draw or write an entire A5 page without having to re-dip it!

What kind of ink should I use with the nib? You have complete freedom: waterproof pigment ink, fountain pen ink with shimmer or sheen, watercolors, acrylic ink, Indian ink... The list goes on. The One-Dip-Nib nib can be cleaned quickly without the risk of clogging.

Why is the One-Dip-Nib a better environmental choice? Instead of buying several disposable fineliners with different nibs, you can use the One-Dip-Nib and ink!

Can I use the One-Dip-Nib instead of a brush? Absolutely! By varying the angle of the nib against the paper, you can create thick, expressive strokes or incredibly precise lines without having to use multiple brush widths and nibs.

How to dip the nib in the ink? Dip the nib until just before the ink level reaches the thumb screw (not beyond it). We recommend holding it in the ink for around 10-15 seconds to allow the ink to saturate the reservoir nicely.

Why might the One-Dip-Nib sometimes scratch the paper slightly? This nib has been hand-finished to remove as much scratchiness as possible. Some people love the super fine 'bite' into the page, so it is sanded to maintain this. If you’d like to change how it feels on the page, you can, of course, use the included sandpaper to make it even smoother too.
