Description
Ukiyo-e translates as "pictures of the floating world" and relates to paintings and illustrations reflecting day to day life in Japan.Taccia Ukiyo-e inks refer to this tradition and in successive series reflect colors used by masters of this genre in their masterpieces.
Kuniyoshi Utagawa, who is the inspiration for this Ukiyo-e ink series, created woodblock prints and book illustrations featuring landscapes, animals, theatrical scenes, and warriors. A prominent place in his body of work is held by dynamic, highly expressive compositions, often inspired by the fantastic and the supernatural. Kuniyoshi developed a distinct, recognizable style in which Japanese tradition meets influences from European art. His work is characterized by imagination, dynamism, and an extraordinary attention to detail.
Taccia Ukiyo-e inks were designed and manufactured in Japan from the carefully selected ingredients. Each color was verified for the conformity with the original woodcut. On each packing you can find the reproduction of the work that was the inspiration for the shade of the ink. If you put all the boxes from one series side by side, you will see the name of the artist to which the series is dedicated to.
